Belmont County 9-1-1 may not always be hiring, but we are always accepting applications from dedicated, hard working, detail oriented individuals searching for employment as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher.
Work as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher requires an individual who is able to multitask, to deal with the general public in a kind and courteous manner, to keep the safety of others as a top priority, to accurately obtain detailed information and relay it to first responders, to remain calm in a high stress environment and work well as a team within the 9-1-1 Center.
The following requirements are necessary to obtain employment as a 9-1-1 dispatcher:
All new employees are required to complete an initial training program consisting of a minimum of 120 hours (15 shifts). Candidates must also successfully pass an Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) class prior to exiting training. Upon completion, they will be evaluated on their progress and a decision is made as to their future at 9-1-1.

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
- Must have general computer knowledge with emphasis on the use of Windows and MS Office software
- Must have general office equipment knowledge (fax, copier, telephone, etc.)
- May be subjected to pre-employment physical and drug test
- Must submit to fingerprinting and a criminal history check
- A background in public safety (law, fire and/or EMS) is preferred, but not required
